SAM & MAKER WORKSHOPS

During the summer break of 2012 and winter break of 2013 FAM and SAM joined forces to create a wonderful experience for children that combined science, art, music, engineering, and tons of fun!

SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS SUMMER!

Children between 7 and 15 came to the Museum to particpate in hands-on makers faire projects in science, music, art, and engineering. They learned how to play guitar or keyboard. Many children also explored puppetry, costume design, painting, drawing, toy design, stop-motion animation, and more in the visual arts.

Who is SAM?

SAM stands for Science, Art, and Music and is also known as SAM Academy on Wheels. When parked in front of the Fresno Art Museum, it becomes a learning lab and science classroom with all of the tools and materials needed to make various projects. Dr. Jerry Valadez, the Director of the Central Valley Science Project and a nationally respected science educator, heads SAM with his wife Bernadette Valadez, a music educator. Our programs benefit many children from throughout the Central Valley. We continuously seek donations and grants to help support our program for children who could not otherwise afford to attend the Museum's Young Maker Workshops. Please contact us if you can help support our programs.

SAM also has a presence at many of the Fresno Art Musuem's Family Day events.
