What is a Maker Faire?
Beginning in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Mini Maker Faire concept has developed into a worldwide movement. Maker Faires are springing up all over Europe, Asia, South and North America. They showcase the raw, artistically creative talent and innovative efforts that often take place in warehouses, garages and back yards in every community— and Fresno is no exception!
A Maker Faire is not a trade show or an arts and craft fair; it’s a celebration of innovation, creativity and resourcefulness. It showcases artists, inventors, makers, creators, innovators, tinkerers, and geeks. Food vendors as well as performing artists also participate. A Maker Faire aims to develop a “sense of wonder” in those who attend, adults and children alike.
